INSTALL ...
Large enough to make a significant difference Our Scope Our People Our Facilities Our Curriculum There are many smaller training programs aimed at bolstering floorcovering installer skills. We salute and thank every one of them, because anyone who is working to raise the level of mechanic expertise is helping the entire industry. But the reality is that no programregardless of content or instructor skillcan teach what needs to be learned in a weekend, a week even a month. And having a network of established, dedicated training facilities is necessary to deliver that training on a broad, consistent basis. The need for skilled flooring mechanics is simply too great to be addressed by a collection of industry splinter groups with limited capacity and reach. The fact is, flooring installation is a multi-faceted craft that requires years of training and the opportunity to work alongside seasoned mechanics to turn a novice into a professional. In order to supply the industry's demand, any training group must have the ability to consistently train large groups of installers on a coast-to-coast basis, at properly equipped facilities. The only qualified professional organization that meets these requirements is INSTALL.
There are currently 2,000 INSTALL Chicago members working as professional flooring installers in Chicago & Northeast Illinois. We pursue aggressive recruitment strategies to ensure an ongoing increase in the number of qualified graduates we supply to the industry in Chicago & Northeast Illinois. The capacity of our training staff and facilities will more than adequately accommodate this expansion, and we are committed to maintaining this ability. All of our trainees receive close oversight from trainers who are themselves constantly upgrading their own knowledge and practical skills.
All of our facilities are equipped with the workspace, tools and materials necessary for trainees to practice their skills on real-world projects. INSTALL Chicago currently uses four training facilities throughout Chicago & Northeast Illinois. Our main facility encompasses over 100,000 square feet, with two full-time training instructors.
All training facilities are constantly updated with the most modern equipment and offer training from floor prep to the most detailed finishing work, such as sanding and striping hardwood floors. INSTALL trainers themselves are educated at the brand new, state-of-the-art facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The INSTALL Chicago curriculum includes input from the manufacturers whose products they and their students will be working with throughout their professional careers. Part of our training consists of intensive workshops put on by visiting technical representatives of materials manufacturers, which helps assure that INSTALL Chicago mechanics perform work that supports the manufacturers' product warranties. Our curriculum is accredited at the highest levels of the federal government in both the United States and Canada, and is reviewed at frequent intervals to assure technologically up-to-date content.
